'BATA OPEN' TENNIS UNIQUE IN SWITZERLAND for youth
Friends of Bata’ is delighted to now support ‘The Open Bata’ in Aubonne that was originally launched by the the Bata Children’s Program Foundation. Notwithstanding COVID it went very well this year with 80 young players between 10 and 18 year old, split in 9 categories.

It is (surprisingly) one of the rare Junior tournament in Switzerland where coaching is allowed. This initiative is greatly appreciated by both players and coaches. For the players, it pushes them to have a good attitude during the match and to give the maximum of themselves as being pushed by their trainers. As an example, in the home final of the 18 year olds, one of the two players had cramps since the middle of the match; By drinking salty water glasses and by being managed by his coach, he was able to finish and win the match. In other circumstances, he might not have been able to push back his limits as he did. Coaching allowed him to give the best of himself which is what sport is all about. For the trainers, it is a unique occasion to share with his player during the match, a highly intense and emotional moment. It allows conclusions and plans to be drawn to reach the next step.
Another specific aspect of the tournament is its design with many categories avoiding players with too different rankings to be mixed. It is greatly appreciated by the players and the parents and it allows everybody to make several matches and ultimately to win his category.
